Vallecas isn't a stadium designed to impress from a distance. It is compact, enclosed by the neighbourhood streets and unusual from the very first glance: behind one of the goals there is no conventional stand, leaving the city visible from inside the ground.
The stands are close to the pitch, and the stadium's scale brings you closer to the match. Get off at Portazgo and, on matchday, those final streets leading to the stadium are already part of the experience.
And Madrid doesn't end at the stadium gates.

I recently had the great experience of attending one of Liverpool FC's games at Anfield, against another FA great, Arsenal. And what an event it was! I got goosebumps several times. I'm glad that, with the help of Mrs Nicolescu, we were able to choose the right package for the game — tickets in the Brodies Sports Bar area — as well as a very well-located hotel, Ropewalks, within a 10–20 minute walk of Liverpool's main attractions and other places of interest we discovered while there.
