Some circuits surprise Formula 1. Barcelona-Catalunya almost does the opposite: it is one of the places teams and drivers know best. Years of testing, racing and thousands of kilometres completed here have turned the circuit into a technical benchmark for the championship.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has hosted Formula 1 since 1991. Its 4.657-kilometre layout combines fast and slow corners, straights and sections that constantly test the balance of the car. That variety is precisely why Barcelona became such an important testing ground for Formula 1 teams.
One of its defining points is Turn 3: long, fast and demanding, a corner where aerodynamics, grip and driver confidence become immediately visible. And after 66 laps, Barcelona leaves few places for a car's weaknesses to hide.
But the weekend doesn't end at the circuit.
